Timilty Middle School’s Family Event – Church & School Partnerships

On May 9th, 2015 the Partners for Excellence in Education team (consisting of Peoples Baptist Church, North River Community Church, and Congregation Lion of Judah and the Timilty Middle School) co-hosted a family event for about 50 students and parents to discuss “ Making Wise Choices during the Middle School Years”. After watching the animated DVD, Who Moved My Cheese?, by Spencer Johnson which talks about dealing with change, the group explored goal setting and challenging changes with their peers in small groups. At the event, several Timilty students performed, and luncheon was served. The event enabled parents to engage with one another, and they expressed a desire for future gatherings to discuss and learn together. Bilingual services promoted building school community in partnership with parents.
